5 years into the project

The life of these ladies has improved dramatically. They have had a decent salary for several years now. Some of them have recently bought a car (and have successfully got their driving licence). Their living conditions have definitely improved but much more needs to be done.

Our biggest impact : going to school

Our project has allowed more than 60 children to go to school for the first time. The 3 to 6 years olds go to our Kindergarten whilst the older ones, equipped with a uniform, school bag, shoes and transport can finally join the local school.

Angelina, daughter of Gim and Ngau

Angelina has been doing very well at school and she is now starting to study to become a teacher. We are all so proud and happy that she will be getting a good job. This was made possible because of the sponsorship we could provide from the sale of baskets.

Much more than a basket

More than 25,000 bags and baskets have now been made! The weavers are incredibly proud to know that they are now being used in more than 75 countries around the globe. This project has touched so many lives and hearts, not only the Penan families in Miri, but all the volunteers and friends of Penan Bags Europe around the world.

Baskets sale and online shopping

We are hoping to offer an online sales service soon. In the meantime, you can check our Facebook page for when and where our next sale will be.

And, if you would like to get involved by organising or helping at a sale, we would love to hear from you.

Bringing a smile

For every bag sold, you make their life a little sweeter !
